When Access Space first started, we found many computers in skips.

A second-hand van is cheaper than one high-end workstation, and unlocks an infinite supply of trash tecnology.

Now the situation is even more favourable.

Thanks to the Waste Eletronics ans Eletronical Equipment Directive, it now illegal to dump old machines.

Business actually pay us to take them away.

You need a license to do this, but it's straightforward to apply, and not very expensive.

Cheaper than on-high-end workstation, in fact!

(2/2) The only minus point with WEEE is disposal costs.

Even if you re-use a PC soonr or later it'll die...

...or, more likely, you'll recover a better one and want to replace it.

Final destination recyclers (who recover raw materials from PC equipment) have put their charges up. So it's important to recover the recycling costs from business computers donors.
