You Can Fix It

(1/3) Urk! Sounds like something's blown!

This unit's completely dead!
What's wrong with it?

Hang on a moment, I'll give you a hand.

Can you fix it?

You Can Fix It

(2/3) Rather than me fixing it, why don't you?

Most problems only take a few minutes to fix.

i've never seen inside a computer before.

Okay, here goes!

It smells to me like the PSU's blown.

And while we're at it, let's upgrade that old graphics card.

What's PSU?leia mais

Video Wall

(1/4) We're well behind schedule...

Yes, we were meant to have this packed up in the van by now.

Looks cool, though!

So what's the hold-up?

e can produce animated output on each screens individually, but synchronising them so that we get one video image across all of them is proving trickier than I thought.

Sorry, I really can't help!

Happy to Help

(1/2) Whoops! Steady on there!

This is ridiculous! We've got too many computers!

And they shouldn't be cluttering up the place.

We've got the van outside - who'll help load up the machines for recycling?

Count us in!

Thanks everyone! Let's form a chain and load these stripped-out units into the van. Then we'll take them for recycling.

Anyone able-bodied can help and working together is fun!

Do It Yourself

(1/4) This must be the place...
... I hope they can help

Hello? Are you the free computer people?

Ermm.. Well yes...

Could I have a free computer, please?

...but it's not quite so simple.

I knew there'd be a catch!

I've just enrolled as a student and I can't afford a computer.

Skip Raider

(1/2) Aha! Another resource discovered!

When Access Space first started, we found many computers in skips.

A second-hand van is cheaper than one high-end workstation, and unlocks an infinite supply of trash tecnology.

Now the situation is even more favourable.

Thanks to the Waste Eletronics ans Eletronical Equipment Directive, it now illegal to dump old machines.

Business actually pay us to take them away.

You need a license to do this, but it's straightforward to apply, and not very expensive.leia mais

GyomlEnglishHowCome

How Come?

(1/2) How come people give Access Space all these computers?

Surely if they were any good, they'd still have a second-hand value...

I doesn't make sense that people are giving away powerfull tools.

You're right. It doesn't make sense!

Many problems that make an old computer fail or slow down relate to its software and configuration - not to the machine itself.

So a lot of the computers you get are in perfect condition!

The Ten Second Rule

(1/3) I guess this is it... Never been to a "media lab" before...

...I'm not even sure what one is!

Wonder what it'll be like... Oh, well. Here goes!

The Ten Second Rule

(2/3) Computers... Loads of computers! People's backs... They look like they're busy... Maybe I'd better leave them to it...leia mais
